let's just recap the rules for this one:
the puzzle uses 9 letters instead of numbers. it consists of 5 overlapping sudoku grids (the large 9x9 squares). within each of these 5 grids, every row, column and internal 3x3 square must contain each of the 9 letters exactly once.
solve the crossword clues ... solve the sudoku. I've tried to make the clues moderate-doable, and the resulting sudoku moderate-tough.

I am still so in love with this cute little word 'n' sudoko variant. I'm sure it's possible to make these at the solvability level where they could happily appear in your average daily American newspaper (next to - or instead of - the stupid Jumble.)
I think, difficulty-vs-fun-wise, I'm about there with this puzzle.

I finally got this form worked out. the secret is not to worry about symmetry, and just go for it.
this is a good one! (if I do say so myself). I'll definitely be making some more of these, as above, with no 'given' letters.
